It means “Almost Heaven” in Spanish. I do love a good Guatemalan coffee and this is a very good roast, and the honest truth is the first thing I do every morning when I wake up is head straight for the coffee pot. But let’s be real …. if heaven is nothing more than a good cup of coffee, then I’m going to be exceedingly disappointed.
If the world was brand new with no faults and errors and you were to fling the gates open wide and enter for the very first time, what would you see? What would be your vision of heaven?
The Bible gives us snippets of information about heaven but unfortunately in many references it is difficult to know for sure if the writer was being literal or figurative.
Here are a few verses that may give us some clues:
Revelation 21:4 ESV
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—
Hebrews 11:16 ESV
But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
So these are some thoughts about heaven that we can be sure of:
- There will be no death, pain, or sorry – only healthiness and happiness
- God is the one who is preparing it for us
- It will be better than what we have experienced on earth
- As hard we may try, it is so good that it is beyond what can be imagined by people. It is a secret.
Sounds pretty exciting, doesn’t it?
I like surprises; I especially like giving surprises that are unique and well thought out. It gives me great pleasure to see someone’s face light up with joy when the gift or surprise is revealed.
I think God likes surprises too. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t give us full disclosure about the details of heaven. He wants it to be so great and mindboggling that when we step in for the first time, he will be the first to see our faces light up with that overwhelming expression of joy!
My mug is full and preparing me for a new day. It won’t be a perfect day, but I’ll pray for one that is casi cielo.
